PEPR Nano2BioReact project

Congratulations to Laurene TETARD, scientific lead of the Nano2BioReact project which was awarded funding under the call for proposals PEPR B-BEST 2025.

This project aims to develop nanoscale characterisation tools to better understand how the chemical and structural properties of plant cell walls influence the reactivity of lignocellulosic biomass.
By combining atomic force microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence and methods from chemometrics, machine learning and AI, Nano2BioReact will develop an innovative approach to observing changes in biomass in its natural state and during its transformation.
The aim is to identify the factors that currently limit the efficient conversion of biomass into biofuels and high value-added bio-based molecules.
Through multidisciplinary collaboration combining plant sciences, chemistry, imaging and data analysis, the project will contribute to the development of more efficient processing methods and the growth of a sustainable bioeconomy. The tools and databases developed will be made available to the scientific community in order to extend their applications to other areas of plant science and biology.
