Acquisition of a high-resolution mass spectrometer incorporating ion mobility at ISA

The TRACES group has justly acquired the new Bruker TimsMetabo, a high-resolution mass spectrometer integrating ion mobility. This next-generation instrument offers unprecedented performance in terms of sensitivity, separation capability and annotation reliability for the analysis of small molecules.

As the second such instrument to be installed in France, the TimsMetabo will enable the TRACES group to overcome numerous analytical challenges, in particular y by facilitating the identification of isobar and isomer compounds, as well as the detection of compounds present in trace amounts within complex matrices.

Its advanced technical performances will open up new perspectives in environmental and industrial research for the identification of pollutants of emerging interest and unknown compounds such as metabolites, transformation products and industrial by-products.
